LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A U.S. health official said on Monday he expects more pets to die from consuming tainted pet food made by Menu Foods and sold under private labels.

Menu Foods has recalled more than 50 "cuts and gravy" style labels of wet pet food, produced at its Kansas facility between December 3 and March 6. Nine cats and one dog have died of kidney failure after consuming the food.

Dr. Stephen Sundlof, director of the Food and Drug Administration Center for Veterinary Medicine, said the government anticipates "those deaths will increase as investigation continues."
