LAKE LOUISE, Alberta (Reuters) - American downhiller Lindsey Kildow-Vonn's recent marriage has done nothing to cool her love affair with Lake Louise.
"You have certain hills you like more than others, certain hills you have a really good confidence, and for me Lake Louise is that hill," Kildow-Vonn told reporters after collecting her fourth Alpine World Cup downhill win in as many years at the Canadian resort on Saturday.
"I was nervous in the start today, I really wanted to keep my Lake Louise streak going.
"It's a high-speed course, which I like, there are a lot of sections where it goes steep to flat and you have to carry your speed and I think that's a place I excel.
"I don't know why but I like it here."
Kildow-Vonn, a double-silver medalist at last season's world championships, will have the chance to add another Lake Louise win to her list on Sunday when the women return to the Olympic course for the first super-G of the season.
The 23-year-old's Lake Louise resume also includes runnerup finishes in a downhill and super-G and another third place in a super-G. giving her seven podium placings.
Austria's Renate Goetschl, another top performer in the Canadian Rockies, has stood atop the podium five times and nearly added a sixth Lake Louse win on Saturday but was forced to settle for second. Continued...
