Russian Sept foreign car sales growth slows
MOSCOW, Oct 8 (Reuters) - The growth of foreign car sales in Russia slowed in September to its weakest annual pace in at least 20 months, as the global financial crisis led to a decrease in consumer demand for cars, data showed on Wednesday.
Sales of foreign car brands grew 22 percent last month, year-on-year, to 179,423 units, data from the Association of European Businesses in the Russian Federation (AEB) showed. That was the slowest rate since January 2007 -- the earliest monthly data available on AEB's website. For comparison, foreign car sales in Russia grew 50 percent in September last year.
In the first nine months of the year, sales growth slowed to 40 percent from 63 percent in the same period of 2007.
