UPDATE 1-Mexico industrial output rises 1.1 pct in May

MEXICO CITY, July 13 (Reuters) - Mexican industrial output rose a weaker-than-expected 1.1 percent in May compared with the same month last year, the government said on Friday.

A Reuters poll had predicted a 2.23 percent year-on-year increase in industrial production.

Industrial output was the same in May as in April, the government said.

Manufacturing during the month rose 0.8 percent year on year.

The government said mining rose 0.5 percent year on year, of which non-oil production rose 5.9 percent and oil output fell 4 percent.

Construction gained 1.7 percent, while utilities rose 3.3 percent, the government said.
