PARIS, Oct 10 (Reuters) - French luxury group Hermes International (HRMS.PA) has launched legal action against online auctioneer eBay Inc. (EBAY.O) over the sale of counterfeit goods on its pages, weekly Challenges magazine reported on Wednesday.

The magazine said a case had been filed at a court in Troyes, France, without giving more details.

No one at Hermes was immediately available to comment on the report.

Hermes would be the fourth French luxury group to take action against eBay over counterfeit sales after Christian Dior (DIOR.PA), Dior subsidiary LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH.PA) and L'Oreal (OREP.PA).

The head of French retailer PPR (PRTP.PA), owner of luxury Gucci Group, said in a newspaper interview in August that it could also take action against eBay if the company did not do more to stop fakes being sold by its customers.

EBay says it does take action when it is notified that counterfeit goods are being offered for sale.
