Scissor Sisters' Shears ready to "get high"

MILAN (Reuters) - Alternative disco and glam rock band The Scissor Sisters will start work on a third album after tours of Europe, Japan and Australia later this year and lead singer Jake Shears says the music will be "a whole new world".

"I'm more inspired now I think than I ever have been," he told Reuters at the Dolce & Gabbana men's fashion show in Milan on Sunday. "I think I'm ready to get high again."

The Scissor Sisters' second album, Ta-Dah, was released in 2006 and featured the hit single "I don't feel like dancing", a boppy tune with downbeat lyrics that echoed the feel of the whole album.

"The whole second record is all about a come-down ... as an answer to the first album which was nothing but inspiration," Shears said.

Although the five-strong band has not yet started on the third album, Shears said they are "chomping at the bit to get working on it".

But first there are tours of Europe, Japan, Australia and music festivals over this summer, he said.

Shears said the clothes shown by Dolce & Gabbana -- inspired by the film "2001 -- A Space Odyssey", especially suits which combined gold and bronze materials with a sharp, slim shape, "make me happy".

"When I'm looking at everything, I'm thinking what would that look like on me, and I love the slim silhouette. I'm crazy about it because I know that it fits me, because I'm a little guy."

Dolce & Gabbana's show featured space-suit style zip-heavy jumpsuits in metallics and whites along with sharp-lined shining suits in similar fabrics, all paraded to music which included soundtrack from the Stanley Kubrick film.
