LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Morrissey's nine-night stand in Hollywood got off to a soggy start on Tuesday when a ruptured water main forced the cancellation of the first two shows, promoter Live Nation said.

Tickets for the Tuesday and Thursday shows at the Hollywood Palladium can be used at either the October 8 or October 9 performances, Live Nation said. Otherwise, they can be returned for a refund.

The English singer will begin his shortened run at the 4,000-capacity Palladium on Friday. His last show is set for October 13. Afterwards, the decrepit 67-year-old venue is scheduled to close for a complete overhaul.

His Hollywood shows are part of a U.S. tour that includes five shows at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York later this month.
