LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - There will be more "Office" time on NBC's schedule next year.

The network has greenlighted the long-rumored spinoff from the Emmy-winning comedy. NBC is expected to make the announcement at its "upfront" presentation of new prime-time offerings for advertisers in New York on Wednesday.

It was not clear whether the show was being picked up from a pilot episode or was ordered straight to series from a script. But an underground NBC schedule floating around this week had the spinoff series possibly launching after NBC's broadcast of the Super Bowl in January 2009.

According to news reports in the fall, NBC had been developing an episode of the hit comedy to serve as a backdoor pilot for a spinoff.
