LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - On the heels of its 16 Emmy nominations, including best drama series, AMC's "Mad Men" opened its second season with 2 million viewers Sunday.

That is more than double the 915,000 viewers the period drama averaged during its first season. Set in the 1960s, "Mad Men" chronicles the lives of several chain-smoking and drinking ad men.

The Emmy nominations for the series also include a nods for lead Jon Hamm and co-star John Slattery.
