Usher engaged to marry
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Popular R&B singer Usher, whose hit songs include 2004's "Yeah," is engaged to marry his longtime girlfriend, wardrobe stylist Tameka Foster, the singer's representative said on Friday.
Further details were not being disclosed, according to Usher spokeswoman Simone Smalls.
Usher, 28, whose full name is Usher Raymond, began his career as a teenager when he was discovered by LaFace Records, and since then he has soared in popularity and moved from singing into acting.
His 2004 CD "Confessions" was a top-selling album and won the Grammy -- the U.S. music industry's top honor -- for best contemporary R&B album. "Yeah," which was on the CD, won the Grammy for best rapped/sung record.
In 2005, he starred in a feature film called "In the Mix," playing a young man who becomes romantically involved with the daughter of a mob boss, and in 2006 he starred in the musical "Chicago" on Broadway.
