(Reuters) - France's Reunion island wants renewable energy to fuel 100 percent of its electricity by 2025 and all its transport by 2050. Here are some key facts about Reunion.

* Reunion is a French overseas territory. Its multi-ethnic population use the Euro currency and vote in French elections.

* It has a rapidly growing population of 763,000 people which is expected to hit more than 1 million by 2030. The island has a surface area of 2,500 sq km, but most people live near the coast.

* Tourism accounts for more than half of Reunion's exports of goods and services. Sugar and rum make up about a fifth of total exports.

* Reunion's volcano, La Piton de la Fournaise, is one of the world's most active. It last erupted in 2007.
