FACTBOX-Florida to join U.S. states in global warming fight

(Reuters) - Florida Gov. Charlie Crist is expected to sign new regulations this week aimed at reducing the greenhouse gas emissions of the fourth most-populous U.S. state. These are the highlights of the plan, according to drafts of the rules released on Wednesday:

**Lower Florida's greenhouse gas emissions to 2000 levels by 2017, to 1990 levels by 2025 and by 80 percent of 1990 levels by 2050.

**Require electric utilities to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to 2000 levels of utility sector emissions by 2017, to 1990 levels by 2025 and to not greater than 20 percent of 1990 levels by 2050.

**Require electric companies to produce 20 percent of their electricity from renewable sources with a focus on solar and wind power.

**Adopt California's motor vehicle emission standards.

**Revise state building codes to increase the energy performance of new construction by at least 15 percent from the 2007 energy code.

**Allow residential and commercial utility customers to feed electricity they produce from renewable technologies back into the electric grid, thereby reducing their bills.

**Require state agencies to use ethanol and biodiesel when possible, to buy cars with the best fuel efficiency and maintain vehicles to maximize mileage.
