Waxman outlines renewable electricity goals

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A climate change bill being sought by a key Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives will call for 25 percent of the country's electricity supply to come from renewable sources by 2025, a source said on Monday.

The House Democratic source, who asked not to be identified, also said House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman has not included in his draft legislation the percentage of polluting permits under a cap and trade system that would be auctioned to industry versus how much might be given to those firms.

That important detail will be addressed by the committee when it refines Waxman's proposal, the aide said.
