WASHINGTON, Feb 27 (Reuters) - A U.S. congressional panel has rescheduled to March 7 a much-anticipated hearing to look into the pay and severance packages of three top financial executives and their roles in the subprime mortgage crisis.

The House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform said on Wednesday that the hearing was postponed from this week to next to accommodate witnesses.

Mortgage lender Countrywide Financial Corp's CFC.N CEO Angelo Mozilo is slated to testify, along with two former Wall Street bank CEOs -- Charles Prince of Citigroup (C.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and Stanley O'Neal of Merrill Lynch & Co Inc (MER.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz).

The compensation committee chairmen of all three companies are also expected to appear before the committee, which is chaired by California Democratic Rep. Henry Waxman. (Reporting by Kevin Drawbaugh, editing by Leslie Gevirtz)
