FACTBOX-Myanmar gives details of cyclone death toll

BANGKOK, May 6 (Reuters) - Cyclone Nargis and its aftermath in military-ruled Myanmar killed 15,000 people, including 10,000 in one town, Foreign Minister Nyan Win said on Tuesday.

Speaking on state-run television, Nyan Win indicated the toll could be higher as the government was still assessing damage in remote villages in the Irrawaddy delta area.

Reuters monitored the broadcast from outside the country.

IRRAWADDY DIVISION (STATE)

Overall -- Nearly 15,000 dead, 3,000 missing.

Ein Mel Township - 2 dead

Mawlamyaing Island Township - 1,835 dead, 2,187 missing

Heingyi Island Township - 975 dead

Khetta Island in Amar Township - 253 dead, 10 missing

Day Da Yel Township - 789 dead, 172 missing

Phyar Pone Township - 5 dead

Hla Putta Township - over 1,000 dead

Bogalay Township - about 10,000 dead

YANGON DIVISION (STATE)

Overall -- 59 dead

Yangon Township - 19 dead, 4 missing

Kun Chan Gone Township - 40 dead, about 500 missing

In addition, Nyan Win said 67 vessels and a few ferries along the rivers in the delta had sunk during the storm. A few harbors were destroyed.

He said the government welcomed all international assistance, adding the the most urgently needed equipment was:

- Tents

- Platstic sheets, bricks and zinc roofing sheets

- Household nails

- Medicine

- Instant food

- Clothes and blankets
