Ventimiglia's horror specialty is "Pathology"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Milo Ventimiglia, one of the stars of NBC's "Heroes," has signed on for the horror thriller "Pathology."

He will play a young intern who is studying pathology at Philadelphia's University Hospital and encounters a group of colleagues who have devised a deadly game to see who among them can commit the perfect murder, while the others compete to determine the cause of death.

Alyssa Milano ("Charmed") will play Ventimiglia's fiancee, while Lauren Lee Smith ("Trick 'r Treat") and Johnny Whitworth ("3:10 to Yuma") are the med students. Marc Schoelermann is directing.

Production is scheduled to begin in May. MGM is releasing the film domestically.

Ventimiglia, who plays the power-absorbing Peter Petrelli on "Heroes," was most recently seen on the big screen in "Rocky Balboa."
