LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Sigourney Weaver is in negotiations to join Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in the comedy "Baby Mama."
The Universal Pictures film centers on a single career woman (Fey) whose desire to have a child and keep her career leads her to hire a surrogate (Poehler). Weaver will play Chaffee Bicknell, owner and operator of the surrogate agency that Fey's character uses.
Shooting is scheduled to begin in May. Michael McCullers wrote and is directing.
Weaver, whose recent credits include "Snow Cake," "The TV Set" and "Imaginary Heroes," next appears in Columbia Pictures' thriller "Vantage Point" and David Auburn's "The Girl in the Park." She also is about to begin work on James Cameron's special effects extravaganza "Avatar."
She also narrated the 11-part BBC documentary "Planet Earth" that aired on Discovery Channel in the U.S.
