French fishermen block fuel depot at Gonfreville refinery

PARIS, May 23 (Reuters) - Protesting fishermen have blocked the fuel depot at Total’s (TOTF.PA) 328,000 barrels per day Gonfreville refinery, France’s largest, since Friday afternoon, the company said.

“The depot is blocked since the beginning of the afternoon,” a Total spokeswoman said.

Total draws fuel from around 60 fuel depots in France.

Angry fishermen prolonged their week-long protest over high fuel prices, ignoring calls by the government to lift their blockades of ports and fuel depots and finding new ways to disrupt traffic on land and at sea.

Fishermen are also blocking fuel depots at La Rochelle in western France and at Port-La-Nouvelle in the south. (Reporting by Muriel Boselli)
