NEW YORK, Aug 19 (Reuters) - Private equity firm CCMP Capital said on Tuesday it hired Greg Brenneman, a turnaround expert credited with revitalizing Burger King (BKC.N) and Continental Airlines (CAL.N), as chairman.
Brenneman is currently chief executive of sandwich shop chain Quiznos, which is itself a CCMP investment.
CCMP was formed in 2006, after being spun off from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co (JPM.N). It has investments in companies including New Jersey-based retailer Vitamim Shoppe Industries, Texas-based chemicals firm KRATON Polymers and Kansas City-based theatrical exhibition company AMC Entertainment.
The company's latest fund, CCMP Capital Investors II, raised $3.4 billion. CCMP focuses on investing in the consumer, energy, infrastructure, media and telecoms sectors.
Quiznos said separately that it appointed president Dave Deno to replace Brenneman as chief executive. Brenneman will remain involved in the company in the role of executive chairman.
