Palladium hits 6-year high, tracks platinum
SINGAPORE, Feb 11 (Reuters) - Palladium jumped to its highest level in six years on Monday to reflect gains in sister metal platinum as supply worries persisted in main producer South Africa.
Palladium <XPD=> rose to $438/443 an ounce from $436/441 an ounce late in New York on Friday.
Platinum <XPT=> rose $1,887/1,895 an ounce from $1,880/1,888 late in New York.
South Africa has appealed to mining companies for help in cutting power consumption to ease a power crisis caused by the failure of electricity generation to match economic growth. (Reporting by Lewa Pardomuan; Editing by Tomasz Janowski)
