Schering-Plough pulls EU antibiotic filing
LONDON, July 26 (Reuters) - U.S. drugmaker Schering-Plough Corp. (SGP.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) has withdrawn its application to European regulators for experimental antibiotic garenoxacin, the European Medicines Agency said on Thursday.
The move follows a similar withdrawal in the United States last August. The drug was developed by Japan's Toyama Chemical (4518.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), which was expected to get royalties on sales.
The European drugs watchdog said the withdrawal of garenoxacin followed a request for additional information, to which the company was unable to respond within the permitted timeframe.
