Soros reports 5.5 pct stake in Ultrapetrol-filing

WASHINGTON, July 19 (Reuters) - Billionaire investor George Soros reported on Thursday that his fund holds a 5.52 percent stake in industrial transportation company Ultrapetrol (Bahamas) Ltd. (ULTR.O)

Soros Fund Management LLC said in a passive filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it owns 1.85 million shares, but did not disclose when it acquired the stake or the cost of the shares.

The filing also did not reveal the purpose behind the transactions.
