Qimonda asks ITC to open probe on LSI, Seagate

WASHINGTON, Nov 21 (Reuters) - German memory supplier Qimonda QI.N asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to open an investigation on accusations of patent infringement by LSI Corp (LSI.N) and Seagate Technology (STX.O) and several subsidiaries, the panel said on Thursday.

Qimonda, which makes dynamic random access memory for a variety of electronics, accused LSI and Seagate of infringing on patents for "semiconductor integrated circuits and products containing same," an ITC commission notice said.

The commission is a popular venue for patent infringement cases because the U.S. agency can bar imports of any devices it finds are using infringing technology. (Reporting by Diane Bartz; Editing by Bernard Orr)
