Mylan wins U.S. OK for generic hypertension drug
BOSTON, Feb 16 (Reuters) - Mylan Laboratories Inc. MYL.N has received final U.S. approval to market a generic version of Wyeth's (WYE.N) hypertension drug Inderal, Mylan said on Friday.
Mylan, which makes cheaper versions of marketed drugs, said it won approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for propranolol hydrochloride extended-release capsules in 60 milligram, 80 milligram, 120 milligram and 160 milligram strengths.
Inderal had U.S. sales of about $201 million for the same strengths in 2006, Mylan said.
Par Pharmaceutical Cos. Inc. (PRX.N) last month also won approval for a generic version of the drug in the same dose strengths.
