Caraco Pharma gets tentative FDA nod for generic Prandin

Aug 13 (Reuters) - Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories Ltd. (CPD.A) said the U.S. health regulators granted tentative approval for its generic version of Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s (NOVOb.CO) Prandin. The generic version, Repaglinide, is indicated to lower the blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, whose high blood-sugar levels cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone, the Detroit-based company said in a statement.

Caraco said tentative approval was granted to the 0.5mg, 1mg and 2mg doses of its Repaglinide tablets. (Reporting by Esha Dey in Bangalore) MESSAGE TERMINATED
