Schering-Plough's Peg-IFN gets FDA priority review status
Jan 31 (Reuters) - Schering-Plough Corp (SGP.N) said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted priority review status to Peginterferon Alfa-2b, an adjuvant treatment for a rare skin cancer, melanoma.
The application will be discussed by the FDA Oncology Drugs Advisory Committee on March 12, the company said in a statement.
Interferon is a protein produced naturally by white blood cells to help the immune system fight viral infections and certain cancer growths. (Reporting by Bhaswati Mukhopadhyay in Bangalore; Editing by Himani Sarkar)
