Jan 6 Hauppauge Digital Inc HAUP.O, a maker of
TV tuners for PCs, unveiled a slew of devices for streaming
live television over laptops and Apple Inc's (AAPL.O) iPad and
iPhone, sending its shares up over 50 percent.
At the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the
company showcased a new TV streamer called Broadway for Apple
devices that allows live TV to be watched at home through a
WiFi connection, or anywhere in the world via Internet.
For Windows-based laptops and netbooks, Hauppauge Digital
launched a mobile digital TV receiver, WinTV-Aero-m, which
allows for viewing of over-the-air TV channels.
The Hauppauge, New York-based company competes with ATI
Technologies Inc, a division of Advanced Micro Devices AMD.N,
Sony Corp (6758.T), Toshiba Corp (6502.T), Cisco Systems
(CSCO.O) and others for some of its products in the consumer
Shares of the company were up $1.19 at $3.56 in heavy
volume trade on Thursday morning on Nasdaq. The stock has
gained a third of its value in the last six months.
