India's Lupin says to sell lisinopril tablets in UK

MUMBAI, July 2 (Reuters) - Indian drug maker Lupin Ltd. (LUPN.BO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) has received approval from British authorities to sell lisinopril tablets, a cardiac drug, the company said on Monday.

The drug is the generic equivalent of Merck and Co.'s (MRK.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) Prinivil tablets, which have UK sales of about $46 million, Lupin said in a statement.

"This approval is the first of a series of approvals that we expect in UK and Europe in the next few months," Managing Director Kamal Sharma said. Lupin's shares were 0.2 down 0.2 percent at 731 rupees in a firm Mumbai market at 0520 GMT.
