Barr says in talks with J&J unit on patent dispute

NEW YORK, Jan 22 (Reuters) - Generic drugmaker Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc BRL.N said on Tuesday it was talks with a Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N) unit to settle a patent dispute involving the oral contraceptive Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo.

A U.S. federal court in New Jersey has postponed a patent infringement trial while settlement talks progress.

Barr said the terms and status of the anticipated settlement with J&J's Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals unit will not be disclosed until a definitive agreement is reached. (Reporting by Bill Berkrot; Editing by Jeffrey Benkoe)
