NEW YORK, May 4 (Reuters) - Schering-Plough Corp (SGP.N) on Friday said the U.S. Federal Trade Commission has requested additional information about the drugmaker's planned $14.65 billion acquisition of Dutch chemical group Akzo Nobel NV's (AKZO.AS) drugs unit Organon Biosciences NV.

"A request for further information is typical in a transaction of this size," Schering-Plough said. The company said it continues to expect the deal to be completed by the end of 2007.
