HK stocks hold steady, but Esprit falls 3 pct

HONG KONG, April 9 (Reuters) - Hong Kong stocks slipped 0.08 percent on Wednesday, led by consumer plays such as Esprit Holdings (0330.HK) as investors worried over the health of the global economy.

The Hang Seng Index .HSI opened at 24,293.42. The China Enterprises Index of Hong Kong-listed mainland companies .HSCE, or H shares, was down 0.22 percent at 13,166.84 as of 0202 GMT. (US$1=HK$7.8) (Reporting by Judy Hua; Editing by Anne Marie Roantree)
