HK stocks up despite weak Wall St; PetroChina up
HONG KONG, April 23 (Reuters) - Hong Kong stocks edged up 0.25 percent on Wednesday despite overnight losses on Wall Street, helped by gains in oil firm PetroChina (0857.HK: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and coal miner China Shenhua (1088.HK: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz).
The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened up 61.34 percent at 25,000.49 on Tuesday.
The China Enterprises Index of Hong Kong-listed mainland companies, or H shares, rose 0.26 percent to 13,454.93 at 0205 GMT. (Reporting by Alison Leung; Editing by Ken Wills)
