The benchmark Hang Seng Index .HSI finished 144.69 points higher at 21,074.21, ending above the 21,000 points level for the first time since September 2008.

The China Enterprises Index .HSCE, which represents top locally listed mainland Chinese stocks, was up 0.7 percent at 11,988.79. (Reporting by Parvathy Ullatil; Editing by Chris Lewis)
