HK Hot Stocks: Chalco & Tencent up, PICC down
HONG KONG, May 13 (Reuters) - Here are some stocks on the move in Hong Kong on Tuesday.
As of 0232 GMT, the benchmark Hang Seng Index .HSI had risen 0.09 percent to 25,092.52 points. The index opened up 0.51 percent.
The China Enterprises Index of Hong Kong-listed mainland companies .HSCE, or H shares, was down 0.30 percent at 13,620.51 points.
STOCKS ON THE MOVE:
* Shares in Aluminum Corp of China Ltd (2600.HK), China's top aluminium firm, and online services provider Tencent (0700.HK) rose more than 5 percent on Tuesday after news that they will join Hong Kong's blue-chip index.
Chalco (601600.SS), China's top aluminium maker, and the country's largest online instant messenging provider, Tencent, will be added into the Hang Seng Index .HSI from June 10 after a quarterly review, the index compiler, Hang Seng Indexes Co Ltd, said on Friday.
* Companies based in China's Sichuan province, including Sichuan Expressway (0107.HK), Dongfang Electrical Corp (1072.HK) and Chongqing Iron & Steel Co Ltd (1053.HK), have suspended trading after a massive earthquake there.
Nearly 10,000 people were killed by the earthquake that hammered southwest China, officials said on Tuesday as rescuers struggled to reach the worst-hit areas where many more may have died. [ID:nL1281973]
* PICC Property and Casualty Co Ltd (2328.HK), China's largest non-life underwriter, fell more than 5 percent after the earthquake, while the country's second-biggest life insurer Ping An Insurance (2318.HK) fell nearly 3 percent. (US$1=HK$7.8) (Reporting by Judy Hua; Editing by Ken Wills)
