Japan's Nikkei rises 1.2 percent after Wall Street rally
TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average rose 1.2 percent on Monday, led by third-largest wireless operator Softbank Corp, tracking a rally on Wall Street on reassuring U.S. earnings.
Bank shares such as Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group gained on receding pessimism about the credit crisis following earnings by Citigroup As of 0002 GMT, the benchmark Nikkei average rose 163.46 points to 13,639.91. The broader TOPIX index added 1.2 percent to 1,319.96.
