NEW YORK, Nov 5 (Reuters) - Alon USA Energy Inc (ALJ.N) on Thursday reported emissions associated with a SCOT unit malfunction at its 70,000-barrel-per-day Big Spring, Texas, oil refinery.

"Operations and maintenance made operational adjustments. The SCOT Amine was bypassed while feed was redirected to the #2 SRU," or sulfur recovery unit, Alon said in a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The incident occurred on Wednesday but the associated emissions lasted into early Thursday, it added.

Alon made a similar filing regarding a SCOT unit snag earlier this week. A SCOT, or Shell Claus Off-gas Tail unit, reduces sulfur pollution from a refinery. (Reporting by Haitham Haddadin; Editing by David Gregorio)
