SANTIAGO, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Chile's leading electricity generator, Endesa Chile, reported a 56 percent jump in third-quarter net profit compared with the same period last year.

Endesa (END.SN)(EOC.N), a unit of Chile-based regional energy group Enersis (ENE.SN) (ENI.N), on Wednesday posted a quarterly net profit of 177.946 million pesos, up from 114.113 million pesos for the same period in 2008.

Figures released by the company to the securities regulator showed some operating costs and financial costs were lower compared with last year.
