Chile bank sector profits rise in September
SANTIAGO, Oct 29 (Reuters) - The Chilean banking system reported a 6.72 percent rise in net profit in September from August, lifted by a growing loan portfolio and a decrease in loan loss provisions, the banking regulator said on Thursday.
The bank sector's profit in the month was $202 million and in the nine months to September totaled $1.55 billion, the agency said.
The regulator is reporting bank earnings using new international accounting rules, which means the figures are not fully comparable on a year-on-year basis. ($1 = 546,07 pesos at end September) (Reporting by Antonio de la Jara; writing by Louise Egan; editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
