Chuo Mitsui: may not repay gov't funds before merger

TOKYO, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Chuo Mitsui Trust Holdings (8309.T) said it may not be able to repay public funds before a planned merger with Sumitomo Trust and Banking (8403.T).

"It depends on the (stock) price," Chuo Mitsui President Kazuo Tanabe said at a news conference. "If we cannot repay before the merger ... we will have to do so after." (Reporting by David Dolan)
