* Seeks to stop Hologic from selling contraception system

May 22 (Reuters) - Conceptus Inc (CPTS.O), a maker of contraception devices, filed a lawsuit against Hologic Inc (HOLX.O), alleging that the medical diagnostics company's sterilization system will infringe several U.S. patents owned by Conceptus.

The suit seeks an injunction prohibiting Hologic from importing, using, selling or offering to sell its sterilization system Adiana in the United States.

Conceptus currently markets Essure, a contraception procedure, which is used to perform a permanent birth control in about 13 minutes without hormones, cutting or burning.

Shares of Conceptus closed at $15.01 Friday on Nasdaq, while Hologic shares closed at $11.73.
