Nov 2 (Reuters) - Semiconductor supplier Diodes Inc (DIOD.O) swung to a third-quarter profit, beating market expectations, helped by higher demand, and forecast fourth-quarter revenue above analysts' expectations.
The company expects fourth-quarter revenue of $126 million to $130 million. Analysts' mean revenue expectations was for $123 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
For the third quarter, Diodes earned $7.8 million, or 16 cents a share, compared with a loss of $3.9 million, or 11 cents a share, a year ago. Excluding items, it earned 21 cents a share.
Diodes, which makes products used in LCD televisions and panels, set-top boxes, mobile handsets and notebooks, posted revenue of $122.1 million, a decline of 9 percent.
Analysts on average were expecting a profit of 19 cents a share, before special items, on revenue of $120.2 million.
Some Asian customers advanced fourth-quarter orders into the third quarter as they were preparing for the one-week national holiday customs shutdown in China, which began on Oct. 1, the company said in a statement.
