UPDATE 1-Bon-Ton sees FY09 results at high end of earlier view

Oct 26 (Reuters) - Bon-Ton Stores Inc (BONT.O) said it expects fiscal 2009 results to be at the high end of its earlier forecast, citing favorable sales trends in October, sending its shares up 6 percent in after-hours trade.

The department store operator in August projected full-year loss per share in the range of $2.50 to $3.70.

Bon-Ton operates 279 department stores under the Elder-Beerman, Boston Store and Carson Pirie Scott chains, among others.

Shares of Bon-Ton were up 6 percent at $9.66 in low volume trade after the bell. They closed at $9.10 Monday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Viraj Nair in Bangalore; Editing by Anne Pallivathuckal)
