UPDATE 1-Navigant Q3 EPS beats estimates, narrows '09 rev view

Oct 29 (Reuters) - Financial and regulatory consultancy firm Navigant Consulting Inc (NCI.N) reported a quarterly profit that beat analysts' estimates by a penny, on reduced costs, and narrowed its 2009 revenue view.
Shares of the company rose as much as 15 percent to $14.64 following the results. They were trading up 12 percent at $14.16 in morning trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
Net income for the third quarter was $8.3 million, or 17 cents a share, compared with $7.8 million, or 16 cents a share, in the year-ago quarter.
Analysts expected the company to earn 16 cents a share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Total revenue fell about 10 percent to $177.4 million, but beat analysts view of $171.3 million.
General and administrative expenses fell 21 percent to $32.5 million, while total costs of services fell about $10 million to $118.8 million.
For 2009, the company narrowed its revenue view to $690 million to $710 million, compared with its prior view of $690 million to $730 million. Analysts expect revenue of $700.2 million.
The company expects earnings for the year to be between 60 cents a share and 70 cents a share. Analysts see earnings of 63 cents a share. (Reporting by Sweta Singh in Bangalore; Editing by Aradhana Aravindan)
