-- Hong Kong could take less water from Guangdong under an idea to be discussed that the province stop supplying water to the territory for a short period because of a drought in the province and resume imports when the drought eases, according to a Hong Kong official.

-- Hu Shuli, founder and editor of Caijing, the mainland's most influential business magazine, resigned to launch a new multimedia business venture after failing to patch up differences with his publisher over the future direction of the magazine.

-- Guangzhou property developer Skyfame Realty (0059.HK) has become the second mainland property company in less than a month to enter into winding-up proceedings because of heavy borrowing at the height of the credit boom.

-- Billionaire investor George Soros has expressed interest in subscribing to shares in the initial public offering of China Minsheng Bank, sources said.

-- New World Development (0017.HK) chairman Cheng Yu-tung said he will subscribe for shares of Sands China, the Macau unit of billionaire Sheldon Adelson's casino company, which is seeking to raise up to HK$26 billion ($3.4 billion).

-- Investment group China Strategic Holdings (0235.HK) has invited Frederick Ma, former Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, and Raymond Or, former vice-chairman and chief executive of Hang Seng Bank (0011.HK) to join the board.

-- Property firm USI Holdings (0369.HK) said it planned to raise about HK$560 million by issuing rights shares at a 37 percent discount to the previous closing price, raising capital to reduce gearing ratio, and to fund future investments
