FACTBOX-Security developments in Afghanistan, Aug 28
(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 3:30 p.m. British time on Thursday:
HELMAND - Afghan and U.S.-led coalition forces killed more than 100 militants in the southern Afghan province of Helmand in the past three days of fighting, the U.S. military said.
ZABUL - Afghan and international forces killed or wounded 18 insurgents in Arghandab district of southern Zabul province, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
HELMAND - Afghan soldiers killed 10 insurgents after coming under attack in Helmand's Girishk district on Wednesday, the Defence Ministry said.
HELMAND - Afghan soldiers inflicted heavy casualties during fierce fighting with insurgents in Nad Ali district, the Defence Ministry said in a statement. One soldier was killed and another wounded in the fighting.
SOUTHERN AFGHANISTAN - An international coalition soldier was killed while on patrol in southern Afghanistan on Wednesday, the U.S. military said in a statement. They did not release his nationality or other details.
PAKTIKA - Coalition forces killed one militant in the south-eastern province of Paktika on Wednesday after he attacked the soldiers, the U.S. military said in a statement.
KABUL - The NATO force signed an agreement with the Afghan Ministry of Defence handing over security responsibility for the capital, Kabul, to Afghan security forces, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
