- LAWMAKERS BLOCK STIMULUS SPENDING ON INFRASTRUCTURE

Legislators have blocked almost 1 trillion rupiah ($96.33 million) worth of infrastructure spending, which was earmarked for redevelopment of traditional market sites, irrigation and road projects, amid technical problems with the proposals submitted by the ministries.

- MANADO DECLARATION TOO GENERAL: CRITICS

Leaders of 76 countries signed the Manado Ocean Declaration at the World Ocean Conference on Wednesday. The agreement calls on developing countries to help pay for the impact of climate change on oceans but does not address illegal fishing. Prof Ove Hoegh-Guldberg, a marine expert from the University of Queensland said the declaration was "disappointingly weak".

- PERTAMINA PREPARES $92 MLN FUND TO BUY ELNUSA STAKE

Indonesia's state oil and gas firm Pertamina has prepared around $92 million to acquire a 37.15 percent stake in energy explorer PT Elnusa Tbk (ELSA.JK) from unlisted contracting firm PT Tridaya Esta, an official said.

Indonesia's Perum Pegadaian, a chain of state-owned pawn shops, will secure a loan worth 2 trillion rupiah ($192.7 million) from state-owned lender PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (BMRI.JK) and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BBRI.JK) to help finance business expansion, chief director Chandra Purnama said. - - - -

Indonesian shipping company PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk (SMDR.JK) is seeking a loan from domestic lenders of 700 billion rupiah ($67.43 million) to finance the development of port facilities and logistics, chief director Randy Effendi said.
