Spanish stocks - Factors to watch on April 3

MADRID, April 3 (Reuters) - The following Spanish stocks may be affected by newspaper reports and other factors on Thursday. Reuters has not verified the newspaper reports, and cannot vouch for their accuracy:

IBERIA(IBLA.MC); VUELING (VULG.MC)

Former Spanish monopoly airline Iberia is negotiating to be the main shareholder in merger talks between its low-cost carrier Clickair and Barcelona-based airline Vueling, papers reported on Thursday.

Iberia is looking for a 40 percent stake in the share capital of any new company, El Economista reported, citing sources close to the operation.

Business daily Expansion said the airline was looking for between 20 and 30 percent, again with the aim of being the main shareholder.

MEDIA STOCKS

ING started rating the Spanish media sector, rating Prisa (PRS.MC), Antena 3 (A3TV.MC), Telecinco (TL5.MC) a "Buy" and Sogecable SGCE.MC a "Sell".

BEFESA (BMA.MC)

The unit of Spanish engineering firm Abengoa (ABG.MC) has won a $291 million deal to build a seawater desalination plant in Algeria, Algerian official media said on Wednesday.

ITINERE EUR.MC

The highway company said after the market close on Wednesday a consortium it leads had won a contract to design, build and operate a tunnel in Marao, Portugal, over a 30-year period. Investment in the project is estimated at 425.1 million euros ($664.8 million).

MARTINSA FADESA (MFAD.MC)

The Spanish property firm is closing in on a 5 billion euro debt restructuring deal that would save it from bankruptcy, people familiar with the situation said on Wednesday.
