PARIS, July 1 (Reuters) - European aerospace group EADS (EAD.PA) won a 2.5 billion euros contract to provide Saudi Arabia with radars and command posts along the border to deter attacks from sea, air or land, Le Point.fr said on Wednesday.

EADS is expected to officially unveil the Saudi Border Guard Development Program (SBGDP) contract in a statement on Wednesday afternnon, the website of French weekly le Point added.

EADS, whose shares rose as much as 3.8 percent on the news, had no immediate comment.

EADS had been in competition with France's Thales (TCFP.PA), BAE Systems Plc (BAES.L) and U.S. group Raytheon (RTN.N).
