EU keeps Iranian opposition group on banned list

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The European Union said on Wednesday it was keeping an Iranian opposition group on its list of banned terrorist organisations, days before international talks with Iran over its disputed nuclear programme.

The EU said it saw no grounds for amending its list of 48 banned groups despite a recent British court ruling that the inclusion of The People's Mujahideen Organisation of Iran (PMOI) on a list in Britain was wrong.

"The Council has decided to maintain those persons, groups and entities on the list," the EU said in its Official Journal after a review of the list that was rubber-stamped by agriculture ministers who met in Brussels on Tuesday.
