EU court scraps cartel fine on France's Bollore
BRUSSELS, Sept 3 (Reuters) - The European Union's top court overturned a 22.7-million-euro ($32.4-million) fine imposed by the bloc's antitrust regulators on French conglomerate Bollore SA (BOLL.PA) in 2001 for alleged participation in a cartel.
The European Court of Justice said in a statement it had upheld fines to two other companies, Papierfabrik August Koehler and Distribuidora Vizcaina de Papeles, which had been punished for running a cartel in the carbonless paper sector.
The executive European Commission imposed fines totalling 313.7 million euros on 10 companies in 2001 because of accusations of price-fixing and market-sharing in the sector.
Three firms appealed against the decision but only Bollore won its case.
"The Commission's decision concerning a cartel on the carbonless paper market is annulled in so far as it concerns Bollore SA," the Luxembourg-based court said. (Reporting by Marcin Grajewski, Editing by Hans Peters)
